Q: Do you mix it in the paint before spraying
2 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor! Yes, you should mix the hardener with the paint immediately before application. For spraying, the recommended ratio is 16 parts enamel to 1 part hardener, and you may also include a reducer at a ratio of 8 parts enamel to 1 part reducer for proper atomization.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: Is this MEKP (Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide)
3 months ago1 Answer
- AI-assistedA: Hi Neighbor- No, this product is an isocyanate-based chemical rather than MEKP. It is specifically described as an aromatic isocyanate catalyst designed to react with the alkyd in Majic Tractor & Implement Enamel.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: With this harder can I still apply with brush?
9 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor- Yes, the Majic Catalyst Hardener can be applied by brush, as it is a component of a system that is designed for brush application, but you will also need a compatible paint, like Majic Tractor Truck & Implement Enamel. You'll need to mix the hardener with the host paint and apply according to the specific product's instructions.9 months agoHelpful?

Q: what is the shelf life of this product
2 years ago1 Answer
- A: Majic Catalyst Hardener Clear 8-0950-4 is an isocyanate-based chemical that reacts with the alkyd in Majic Tractor & Implement Enamel to enable the product to dry faster, achieve additional hardness and develop the highest possible gloss. Once added into the enamel, the paint needs to be immediately applied. In a sealed and unopened container, stored indoors in a controlled environment, Majic Catalyst Hardener Clear 8-0950-4 has a minimum shelf life of 2 years from its manufacturing date. Majic Catalyst Hardener Clear 8-0950-4 is sensitive to moisture. Once the container is opened and exposed to air, particularly humidity, gassing and drying of product will occur. It is best if all the product is used withing 30 days after opening container.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: How much of this do I use ? I'm spraying magic gloss black, through a spay gun to paint under side of truck bed.
3 years ago1 Answer
- A: The proper ratio for adding Majic Tractor & Implement Enamels to Majic Catalyst Hardener is 16:1 (16 parts Majic T&I Enamel to 1 part Majic Catalyst Hardener)… the proper ratio for mixing Majic T&I Enamels with Majic Reducer is 8:1 (8 parts Majic T&I Enamel to 1 part Majic Catalyst Hardener). The correct ratio for mixing all 3 components together is 8:1:1/2 (or 16:2:1, with the first number T&I Enamel, the second number Reducer, and the third Catalyst Hardener). At this ratio, you will use 2X the amount of Reducer as Catalyst Hardener). Please understand that with Majic Reducer this is a plus/minus ratio, meaning that more, or less, may be used to ensure proper atomization and flow & leveling of applied product – and will be determined by your spray equipment, the atmospheric conditions at the time of application, and of course your own personal preferences (though 8:1 is a good place to start). Also, read & follow label instructions carefully with particular attention to the recommended applied thickness (recommended @ 2.5 mils wet) of Majic T&I Enamels, and the “allowable” re-coat times (24 hours – minimum). This time of year, be aware that application, and drying, during cooler temps and/or higher humidity will affect the actual dry-through time of the applied product, and may require additional time between coats. For best results, apply in an environment where the surface temperature is above 50° (best @ 70°F.), and remains reasonably constant for 12-16 hours following application.3 years agoHelpful?

Product works but….
The product works ‘ok’ , although it made the paint more brittle so it chips easily. I didn’t even add the full recommended amount(too much hardener = brittle paint). It’s pretty expensive when any acrylic enamel hardener will work(such as Speedokote SMR610-P). Another point of contention, website said they had it in stock and when I got to the store, they didn’t. This shouldn’t reflect the actual product rating but TSP needs to do better about being honest with inventory so you don’t waste expensive gas and time. Yes I could’ve called and will in the future. Still would’ve only given 2 stars as the product is inferior and expensive.
No, I do not recommend this product.
